Professors Donald MacLean and Robert MacIntosh will introduce three key challenges in strategic management. First, they will discuss how to formulate an appropriate and logically coherent strategy. Second, they will focus on the ways in which innovation can help to deliver the strategy. Third, they will highlight the role of leadership in creating the context for successful outcomes. Their talk will introduce a simple, practical framework for strategy formulation based on intent, foresight, capability and strategic options. They will highlight their unique strategy diagnostic which helps businesses focus efforts where they will count the most. Using their extensive research with a range of corporate, public and SME organisations, they will focus on ways of improving the outcomes and impact of strategy work.
