Scottish Enterprise

Scottish Enterprise supports B2B Scotland 2012 as an opportunity for businesses to learn from key industry experts and network with peers from a range of sectors.

As well as helping businesses cultivate new relationships, the event helps explore new routes to market and opportunities for sustainable growth both in the UK and abroad.

Developing a business internationally can be one of the best ways of growing and advisors will be on hand to talk about Smart Exporter – an international trade skills programme run by Scottish Development International, Scottish Enterprise and the Scottish Chambers International – as well as the other help available to businesses looking to export.

The conference is another opportunity for public sector partners to work together to provide access to help and information to Scottish businesses looking to start up, grow or improve in some way and Scottish Enterprise is pleased to be working alongside Business Gateway at B2B Scotland 2012.

The Glasgow Business Portal

In November 2007 Glasgow was awarded the right to host the 2014 Commonwealth Games. To ensure a lasting economic legacy, the Council wanted to ensure that companies of all shapes and sizes were given the opportunity to compete for contracts related to the Games.

The Commonwealth Games Business Portal has advertised hundreds of millions of pounds worth of business opportunities since its launch in October 2009, with almost 80% of those contracts awarded to Glasgow and wider Scottish companies.

Building on this success, Glasgow City Council has been working with public and private sector partners to maximise the business opportunities available to local companies outwith the Games. This has resulted in the development of the Glasgow Business Portal, advertising business opportunities across a range of projects including the New South Glasgow Hospital, Glasgow School of Art Phase 1 and 188 Buchanan Street.

Through one simple registration, the portal will continue to be a business-matching service that publishes both public and private sector contract opportunities.
